Don’t forget your proof of ID for today’s general election at your local polling station. A driving licence will do, or a Public Services Card, a credit union savings book or… a passport!
Mind you, I don’t think the polling station on Cowper Street will be accepting Republic of Cowtown passports just yet. Various diplomatic loose ends still have to be completed before it gets official recognition from Poblacht na hÉireann.
In fact, only one physical copy of said passport exists. It’s on permanent display at the Cowtown Cafe in Stoneybatter (see above).
Obviously it’s far too large to fit in a standard size handbag or trouser pocket, but the following is a shrunk down (what one might even call “passport sized”) version of the passport that you can print off in the comfort of your own home. Or, better still, roll off a few dozen on the office laser printer.
Click on the image below for a more hi-res version. Admittedly it only stretches to the front and back covers. The rest you’ll have to improv.
NB THIS IS A REPLICA PASSPORT. IT IS TO BE USED PURELY FOR POLITICAL ENTERTAINMENT AND ENLIGHTENMENT (AND TO ILLUSTRATE THE ONGOING STRUGGLE FOR COWTOWN’S INDEPENDENCE).
DO NOT USE IT (A) AT A RYANAIR DEPARTURE GATE, OR (B) TO BLAG YOUR WAY INTO THE VIP AREA OF A POP FESTIVAL IN A BOGBALL STADIUM.
